The Accounts Chamber is a member of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), as well as its two regional organizations — European and Asian (EUROSAI and ASOSAI). In addition, the Russian control agency interacts with the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Multilateral cooperation contributes to the integration of the Accounts Chamber into the global audit community for the exchange of best practices.
The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation joined INTOSAI in 1995. In this international organization, it chairs the working group on public procurement audit and the working group on sustainable development goals and key indicators of sustainable development. In 2019, the SAI of Russia received the authority of the President of INTOSAI. The Accounts Chamber is also a member of the Governing Boards of EUROSAI and ASOSAI.
Membership in professional audit communities helps to exchange information, documentation, research on the audit of public finances and unify terminology in the field of state control.
In order to exchange experience, the SAI of the Russian Federation periodically delegates its specialists to the external audit institutions of international organizations — the UN and the Council of Europe. Active work is being conducted with colleagues from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank and the International Anti-corruption Academy.
An important component of multilateral international cooperation of the Accounts Chamber is its work in the Council of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the CIS Member States (SAIs of the CIS). It was established in 2000 on the initiative of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. Until September 2020, the Accounts Chamber chairs the Council of Heads of the SAIs of the CIS Member States.
New forms and formats of international cooperation are being used more and more successfully: interaction with the SAIs of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and BRICS Member States.
