On September 25, 2019, the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation assumed the Presidency of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). From this moment on, the control agency of the Russian Federation is directly involved in shaping the world’s state audit agenda, which contributes to achieving the goals set out in the Moscow Declaration.

The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation was elected President of INTOSAI on September 25, 2019 during the XXIII Congress in Moscow. This decision of the international audit community not only gives significance to the Russian Supreme Audit Institution (SAI), but also allows for even closer interaction with the United Nations (UN), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank.

Active participation in the work of INTOSAI helps to ensure independent external oversight of the achievement of nationally agreed goals (including those related to the sustainable development goals), helps to effectively use the opportunities of technological progress and increases the public profile of the work of the SAIs.

The Accounts Chamber has acquired more authority to develop and implement international standards and methodological documents on financial control and audit, which form the basis of the activities of the SAIs around the world.

Participation of the Accounts Chamber in the work of INTOSAI allows to develop and follow the common principles that foreign SAIs are focused on. They can be found in the Moscow Declaration prepared within the framework of the XXIII INTOSAI Congress.
