The Department's work is focused on ensuring that public resources are used for the benefit of the development of society as well as on preventing inappropriate and inefficient use of money.

Principal activities:

The Department monitors how efficiently budget funds earmarked for the Prosecutor's office, investigations, courts, penitentiary system and the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation were used.

The Department is responsible for monitoring the Federal Treasury, Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia, Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, State Duma, Federation Council, Accounts Chamber, Commissioner for human rights, Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) and Federal Archival Agency (Rosarchiv).

The structural unit is responsible for analyzing the efficiency of public administration related to the achievement of national goals and the solution of strategic tasks for the country's development. The Department also accumulates and analyzes corruption-related violations detected by the Accounts Chamber in order to improve anti-corruption methods.

The Department includes the following audit units on:

  • Justice and Prosecutor's Offices; 
  • State bodies; 
  • Judicial system and investigative bodies; 
  • Consolidated analytics.
