The Department's work is related to regional development, including the use of priority territories, as well as housing and utility services. The Department finds risks of not achieving the sustainable development goals and points out potential misuse and inefficient use of resources.

Principal activities:

The Department conducts budget audits and reviews drafts of federal laws related to expenditures of the Russian Federation, as well as laws on the federal budget for the next financial year and planning period.

The Department's audit includes the state programmes "Providing affordable and comfortable housing and utilities to citizens of the Russian Federation," "Socio-economic development of the Far Eastern Federal District," "Development of the North Caucasus Federal District" and some others.

The Department is responsible for external verification of the annual budget reports of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities, the Ministry of North Caucasus Affairs, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic and the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs.

The Department includes the following audit units on: 

  • Balance of budgets of the Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation Reform and modernization of housing and utilities services; 
  • High-priority geostrategic territories of the Russian Federation; 
  • Consolidated analytics.
